Baraband

The baraband's elegant demeanor is heightened by its slender shape and long tapering tail, which is predominately a soft shade of bright green. Males of the species have a rich shade of yellow on the forehead and crown. That shade is repeated in a large area covering the cheeks and throat. A flaring broad crescent of light, bright red frames the lower boundaries of yellow on the throat, while the beak is a slightly duller shade of red.  Click to read more.

Blue-Headed Pionus
The blue-headed pionus parrot, Pionus menstruus, has much to recommend it as pet--it is a common bird and easy to keep and to breed. Its quiet disposition and medium size make it ideal for a garden enclosure or if you have neighbors close by. Click to read more.

Canary

Canaries can be classified into three separate categories: type, color-bred and song. As the names indicate, color-bred canaries are bred to attain specific colorations and song canaries for their singing abilities. And while some breeders were trying to achieve excellence in their birds' song style or coloration, others were attempting to change the body or "type" configurations to their own specifications. It is extremely interesting to look at the appearance and characteristics of these different types. Click to read more.

Cockatiels

"If we were suddenly denied the pleasure of all our birds except one, we would unhesitatingly choose a cockatiel to be that one pet." This quotation, from the widely read book Parrots and Related Birds by Henry Bates and Robert Busenbark, epitomizes the feelings of cockatiel enthusiasts who have experienced the unique joy of owning a tame cockatiel. In addition to its delightful, loving personality, a cockatiel is relatively easy to tame and makes an excellent family pet and devoted companion bird. They are also easy to breed and come in a myriad of color mutations guaranteed to fit most price budgets.  Click to read more.
Lovebirds

The lovebird's natural color is green, but captive breeding has produced a variety of colorful combinations. There are nine recognized varieties of these resplendent little birds, including the peach-faced, Fisher's and masked. Selecting a hand-fed baby may prevent future problems as adult lovebirds can be difficult to tame. Care must be taken to provide your exotic pet with a variety of stimulating toys and the proper diet. These charming birds are easily bred in the proper environment.  Click to read more.
